The Egyptian Mau is one of the oldest breeds of
domesticated cat. Evidence suggest and experts
agree, that the Mau is in fact the cat domesticated
from a spotted sub species of the African Wild Cat
by the Ancient Egyptians at least 4,000 years ago.
The American history of the breed is much shorter.
The first known Maus in the US came in the 50's. It
was much later when the breed gained acceptance
by the cat registries. The Egyptian Mau remains a
fairly rare breed. The Mau comes in five colors.
